
Cherry Hanes is a sought after voice and piano teacher, clinician, vocal coach and vocal judge/adjudicator. She has concertized and sung with various symphonies and chamber orchestras, won state and national competitions, and been a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera auditions. She holds a BS in Vocal and Piano performance from TWU and a Masters in Worship Leadership from DBU. She studied voice with Mrs. Florence McCracken Vachon for 27 years.
Cherry founded her own private vocal and piano studio in 1986 teaching both Bel-Canto (Opera/Classical), Pop Vocal and Music Theater. Her students have won state, national and international competitions. She is currently serving as Director of Music/Worship at Grace Redeemer Community Church and has served in many other capacities in music ministry in the past 30 years, including leading sectional rehearsals, leading worship, conducting/directing 100 voice choirs, full orchestras, and musicals/cantatas, coordinating cantatas and musical theater productions, special music, and offertories. She also worked with ensemble and praise teams, has been an accompanist, a soloist, and served in any way she can. She is a member of Texas Choral Directors Association, Richardson Music Teachers Association, Dallas Music Teachers Associatin, Texas Music Teachers Association, Music Teachers National Association, Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, and National Association of Teacher of Singing and has served as an officer, vocal judge, and board member in these organizations.
Standing out above the long list of accomplishments is Cherry’s passion is seeing her students grow and develop into fine young artists. Cherry has students concertizing in Europe, Music Educators here in Texas, to professionals on the stage on Broadway. She loves teaching and educating.
